Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
Lexo is a reading app made by Lexo Learning Co. (“we”). We built it to need as little information about you as possible: there are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, in the app or on this website.
What stays on your device
Your library, your place in each book, your saved words and your settings (the language you speak, the language you’re learning, your level, display preferences) are stored on your device. Your language and level may also be kept in your own iCloud account so another of your devices can pick them up. We can’t see any of this.
Books you get are downloaded to your device so you can read and listen offline.
What reaches our servers, and why
Purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your name, Apple ID or card. To unlock a book, the app sends us the signed receipt Apple gives it for each in-app purchase. We check that it’s genuine and record which edition each purchase (or subscription credit) was used for, keyed by Apple’s transaction identifiers, so a purchase can be restored on a new device and used only once. We then give the app a signed download pass listing the editions it may download.
Notifications. If you ask to be notified when a book is ready and allow notifications, the app sends us your device’s push token, the edition you’re waiting for and your interface language. We use them to send that one notification, then delete them.
Requests. Like any website or online service, our servers receive your IP address, your device’s user agent and the address requested whenever the app or this site talks to them. These logs are used to keep the service running and secure, and are deleted after 30 days.
Launch list and messages. If you join our launch list on this site, we store your email address, the language of the page and the time you signed up, and use them only to tell you when Lexo launches and about major new features. If you send us a message through the support page, we store your email address and your message so we can reply. Ask us any time and we’ll delete them.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell or share personal information. We don’t use advertising or analytics SDKs, and we don’t build profiles of you. The books themselves are the same for everyone: what you read and the words you look up stay on your device.
Where your information is kept
Our servers run on Google Cloud in the United States (Iowa). Google acts as our processor. Apple processes payments and delivers notifications under its own privacy policy.
Children
Lexo isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. The app itself asks for none.
Your choices and rights
You can use Lexo without giving us any personal information. You can turn notifications off in Settings, and remove downloads or the app at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to how we use it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the support page. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date above. If a change is significant, we’ll say so in the app.
